The 10 Best SKS Scopes | Top Optics in 2022

Owning an SKS means you’re holding a piece of history in your hands.

It’s hugely popular with gun collectors and, if you do get an opportunity to handle one, I strongly recommend you take it.

An SKS rifle is one of the most reliable tools for the owners. Not only are they affordable, they’re still a very cable self-defense rifle. Powerful, accurate, easy to shoot and ammo that doesn’t cost a fortune.

However, without a scope, it might become difficult to use it. The SKS functions fine out of the box, but the addition of an optic really changes how effective the weapon can be.

The SKS is not a long range precision rifle and is best used under 300 meters. A scope should be fast and easy to use since the rifle is very popular for brush hunting, where rapid target acquisition is key.

What is great about the SKS rifle is that it has a lot of positive qualities, including accuracy, ease of shooting, and being affordable and powerful. Add a high-quality scope, and you’ve got yourself an amazing all-purpose weapon.

Let’s take a closer look at the best SKS scopes and find out how far we can take this rugged old weapon.

Underneath we have accumulated a rundown of the best long eye relief scopes accessible in the market today. In any case, before we get into that, here’s a little guide on what to search for in a rifle scope.

TOP 10 Best  Scopes for SKS Rifles

1. Primary Arms 1-6×24 SFP Rifle Scope (Gen III) – Best Scope for SKS

The Primary Arms 1-6×24 (Gen III) scope is ideal for both the SKS rifle and medium-range hunting.

The riflescope features a second focal plane design, meaning that the reticle is of the same size at all magnifications. This is a great scope for situations where having minimal coverage of the reticle at high magnifications is crucial.

For this product, all the lenses are multi-coated. These coatings are vital for gathering and transmitting light. So, the result is that you can get sharper and brighter images.

The eye relief of this model is rather impressive (from 3.3 to 3.5 inches). That means the scope will dig into your eye socket every time you shoot.

The scope’s frame is constructed from super strong 6063 aluminum finished in black and, yes, it looks fantastic.

With nitrogen purged seals, multi-coating on the lens, and extensive weatherproofing, it’ll endure knocks and scrapes like a champ.

I’m pretty fond of the Primary Arms 1-6×24 SFP Rifle Scope because it seems to suit the specialist SKS rifle remarkably well, but, when considering the combined weight, I’d probably recommend it to experienced hunters only.

2. Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 1-8×24 SFP Rifle Scope – Best Overall

Vortex Optics

It is one of the best scopes for the SKS rifle. Its Strike Eagle 1-8×24 SFP Rifle Scope excels when it comes to long-range precision and fast targeting.

The Strike Eagle 1-6×24 is both versatile and fast. Ranging in magnification from 1x to 6x, the scope has high-quality, and fully multi-coated lenses for a clear, crisp sight picture, and optimal low light performance.

The 30 mm tube has a 1-8x magnification range which is perfect for speed and accuracy of target aim as well as precision at both zero and extended ranges of up to 800 yards.

On top of being a diverse and compatible optic that performs well with any shooting application, it also has 11 brighness levels, making it perfect for tactical shooting and hunting during any weather conditions.

The fast focus dial on the eyepiece ensures that your reticle is always sharp.

The scope comes with robust weatherproofing to ensure it really can stand up in any environment. It is water-resistant, waterproof, fog-proof, and shock-proof. It’s no use having a glass that lights up at night but falls apart in fog.

I would advise you to choose this product because of the many positive merits. Whether you are game hunting or sporting, this is the right scope for your activities. You are sure to hit the target because of its performance and reliability.

This scope can handle any target your SKS is capable of hitting, and then some. It has 6x magnification and a quick acquisition system, making it ideal for hunting.

Features

– 11 illumination settings for a great contrast in any lighting.

– Adjustable focus allowing the user to focus the optic to their eyes.

– BDC reticle, that works for both 5.56 mm and 7.62×51

– Wind holds built into the BDC for 5, 10, and 15 MPH winds

– Zero indexing points on Turrets for a quick re-zero.

It covers a longer range of up to 650 yards.
Suitable for long-range and tactical shooting
The scope can work under any environmental condition.

3. Vortex Optics Sparc II Red Dot Sight

The final scope on my list of the best SKS rifle scopes is another Vortex Optics product.

The Vortex SPARC II is a compact red dot sight with a 2 MOA red dot reticle. It does not feature any holdover points. The reticle is illuminated and can be alternated between 10 different brightness settings, powered by a standard battery which can be stored in a compartment on the side of the optic.

This red dot sight also has a set of windage and elevation adjustment dials, though these require a screwdriver or coin to operate.

I am impressed with the completely multicoated lens integrated into this sight because it provides a clear and wide field of view. 4 inches of eye relief make this a great optic for high recoil weapons.

However, some say that the current number of its brightness settings is insufficient.

One terrific feature is the scope’s multi-height mounting mechanism. This makes it compatible with a broader range of weapons including older guns like the SKS rifle.

Weatherproof functionality and a pair of lens caps to further protect the glass pieces of the scope complete the set.

The unlimited eye relief promised by this unit also aids in making it free of parallax. I am pleased with the shockproof performance delivered by this SKS scope as it also showcases its ability to withstand impact and recoil.

The Vortex Optics Sparc II Red Dot Sight Scope is easily one of the highest quality rifle accessories on our list. There aren’t many weak points to uncover here though some would argue it doesn’t have enough reticle illumination settings.

Features

– 2 MOA red dot sight

– Illuminated reticle

– Mounted on Weaver or Picatinny bases

– Windage and elevation dials

– The SPARC II is shock-proof, water-proof, nitrogen-purged and will work in any combat or hunting condition.

– The SPARC II has unlimited eye relief and is parallax-free.

– Its windage and elevation turret caps have an adjustment tool built in to them.

– The lens is multicoated and gives a very clear and crisp sight picture.

Pros Cons
Can be mounted in four different ways. Brightness buttons can be quite unresponsive
10 levels of red dot brightness intensity. No option for magnification, which previous model had
Built-in brightness intensity memory function. Astigmatism might cause a sunburst effect on the lens or distort the red dot slightly.
The battery it uses comes included in the purchase.
Very easy to use (easily zeroed as well and holds zero very well).
Light, compact, durable, and very easy on the eye (great design).
Waterproof and offers further protection (removable lens covers).

UTG is greatly praised for the assembly quality, and it has a sturdy feel to it. It is constructed with optimal strength, and it has a changeable aim from 3 yards to perpetuity. I am delighted that this scope comes with a design guaranteed to withstand shocks and other vagaries associated with different weather and environmental conditions.

I tested it in the persistent drizzle, heavy fog, and low light. While light transmission varied somewhat, it performed surprisingly well, particularly in the dense early morning fog.

The compactness of this scope makes it perfect for those who run short carbines or platforms that have limited space.

One of the cooler features is your choice of reticle color. The illuminated display can be changed between standard black, red, and green.

The UTG 3-9X32 1″ BugBuster Scope is ideal for shooting medium and long-range targets. It comes with simple access to reticle light, mounting rings, and focal point covers.

Pinty 3-9X40 Red Green Rangefinder Illuminated Optical Scope review finds that this scope is excellent for both beginner and advanced hunters.

6. Vortex Optics Crossfire II 2-7×32 SFP Scout Scope

Vortex Optics scopes tend to be a cut above the rest. This manufacturer is always highly regarded and, if you’ve used its hunting accessories before, you’ll know why.

Vortex Crossfire II is the entry-level hunting rifle scopes, which come for an affordable price and nice build quality.

Lenses rifle scopes are full-multi coated to improve the light transmission, contrast, and resolution of the image. The lens itself is of a perfect size to let in enough light and has a forgiving eye-box for comfortable shooting in any conditions.

The turrets on are capped for more protection, and the whole main tube is made from a single piece of aluminum, which is hard coat anodized. The hard anodizing protects the material from corrosion and the elements, as well as against scratches.

Vortex Crossfire II  meant mostly for shorter ranges, the 7x magnification and the Dead-Hold BDC reticle will do short work of medium-ranged shots as well with proper use.

When combined, the product’s multi-coated lens, enhanced adjustable MOA turret, and fast focus eyepiece adds up to create a very satisfying, clearly high-quality rifle scope. While it’s pricier than some others on our list, it’s worth your attention.

9. Aim Sports 4×32 Compact Rangefinder Scope

Despite its compactness, I can still vouch for its strength and functionality. I noticed that this scope is lightweight, too, while still retaining the strong and sturdy built.

It takes advantage of an exceptional reticle, which is helpful in zooming in and viewing your aim or target clearly.

The reticle also comes with just the right amount of thickness to promote a fixed 4x magnification that is perfect for shooting.

It also boasts of its impressive field of view that specifically meets the shooting requirements of shooters and hunters.

The scope’s body is synthesized using the aircraft-grade aluminum material, boosting its sturdiness and durability. The shock-proof and fog-proof housing of this scope also makes it much stronger.

The Aim Sports scope does include mounting components, unlike the Vortex Optics Strike Eagle Scope. Although, I found these rings to be loose after two or three hours of heavy shooting. It doesn’t take much to tighten them up again but it’s something to be aware of.

The Aim Sports 4×32 Compact Rangefinder scope provides a sloped range finding reticle that will help you get on target fast and accurately. It is an inexpensive rifle scope thus if you are looking for a cheap rifle scope and all the rifle scope’s features match your needs or requirement, then it is a good choice.

10. Barska 3-9×42 IR 2nd Gen Sniper Rifle Scope

I think it’s a particularly strong contender for best red dot sight scope with an SKS rifle.

This riflescope is built to be easy to use and precise when utilized in tactical situations and environments.

The MIL dot reticle is sleekly designed, high performing, and contributes to its impressive targeting capabilities.

The sunshade prevents stray light from entering your field of view, which is common when the sun is close to the horizon.

Multi-coated optics give the 3-9×42 Sniper Scope a sharp, bright image with excellent contrast. An illuminated red and green mil-dot reticle greatly enhances targeting in low-light situations with 5 levels of brightness, allowing the 3-9×42 Barska Sniper Scope to excel in any condition. Backed by

Nitrogen purged and o-ring sealed housing equip this scope to handle driving rain, extreme temperatures, and humidity.

Part of the reason this scope is so rugged is its rubberized frame. It literally bounces off the ground (well, not so you can see it) when dropped. If you’re quite a lively, energetic hunter or tactical shooter, it’s a valuable feature.

The scope’s shockproof frame stabilizes optical elements and windage/elevation turrets, ensuring the scope will withstand the recoil of a wide range of calibers and maintain weapon zero.

One noticeable issue, though, is that you can’t reset the wind age and elevation drums to zero after zeroing in your rifle.

I still wasn’t expecting to like this one as much as I did. It can be beaten by pricier rivals on magnification and precision, however, its balance of accuracy, built integrity, style, and ruggedness make it a superb selection for your SKS rifle.

Guarantees better control and accuracy in all situations
Can minimize glare, thanks to the sniper edged sunshade
Features an ergonomic rubber design, which makes the scope more secure

Things to Consider When Choosing Your SKS Scope

An SKS is not a very expensive or high-end rifle, so it is normal to stick to scopes that are also medium-priced.

It is important to keep in mind your purpose and what you intend to shoot with it, as well as your skill level.

If you want to shoot during the daytime, a basic scope will serve you well. Alternatively, you will need a better scope with optical coatings for nighttime or dusk hunting.

However, now we want to discuss some considerations that you MUST know for sure. From there, you easily make your decision.

These points will cover the main things that should be the basic minimum for any scope. Please follow through for more information.

Magnification Power

The maximum effective range of the SKS rifle’s ammunition is around 150 yards, so you do not really need to use a scope that is meant for sniper rifles. If you are planning to attach a scope on your SKS, you should just get one that is meant for short and medium-range shooting.

For most people, a scope with a fixed 3x or 6x magnification will be more than enough for short-range shooting. Ideally, the scope should also have a red dot reticle to make it much quicker to engage your target.

For medium range shooting, a variable 3-9x or a 2-12x magnification scope will be perfect. With a good scope for SKS, you might be able to hit targets from 175 to 200 yards with a considerable bullet drop and windage correction.

If you will be using it for keeping your homestead safe from intruders and wild animals, the short range

scopes will do. If you will be using it for plinking, the variable medium range scopes are best.

Lens Size

The larger the objective lens, the more light enters the scope and the easier you can see in low-light conditions.

Keep in mind, however, that a larger objective lens will make the entire package quite bulky and heavy, while a smaller lens will make a scope lightweight.

This means that even if you get a scope with a 50 mm objective lens, although you can get a clear image through the scope, it has made the scope too top-heavy that it is hard to aim.

This depends on your preferences, but, for nighttime or dusk hunting, it is better to go for larger objective lenses.

The Reticle

Most of the scopes has coated optics and a sealed, nitrogen purged tube; meanwhile, the reticle can make the scope stand out.

In our opinion, you should find the illuminated reticle to help you determine targets in all lighting conditions.

Lens Protection

You definitely need a rifle scope with reflection resisting coatings, but they’re so ubiquitous  now any product you buy will likely have them.

Anti-reflection and anti-glare coatings are important because they make sure sunlight doesn’t parallax the image and produce a distorted target that you’re not seeing correctly.

Multicoated objective lenses are protected by a substance that absorbs light instead of bouncing it back off surfaces. The optimal amount of light for max light transmission and superior views enters the tube but no more.

Strength and Longevity

The scope needs to be durable enough that it can survive quite a number of accidental drops, banging against the wall, and other kinds of abuse and still aim like a champ.

No amount of moisture or dirt can get inside the scope to obscure your vision. Many of the scopes nowadays are also filled with an inert gas, usually nitrogen, to prevent the lenses from fogging up.

Tarkov SKS Scope

The SKS Tarkov is chambered to receive 7.62×39 cartridges. This ammo is most similar to 30-30s and most powerful when fired from around 150 yards.

The best scopes for the SKS Tarkov are made for medium distance shooting with a magnification of 3-9x or 2-12x.

Although, if you prefer to hit a target rapidly from within 150 yards, a non-variable 6x scope also fits the bill.

Size & Weight

The SKS was designed as a lightweight carbine with an intermediate round. One of the main concerns of mounting an optic on such a small and handy rifle is ruining the handling characteristics of the rifle itself and ending up with a bulky and heavy package.

Make sure that any SKS scope you buy is lightweight and compact that you don’t negate one of the best characteristics of the rifle. This includes large target style turrets, huge objective bells heavy mounts or anything that will get in the way.

 Warranty

Make sure that any scope you buy has a decent warranty that reflects the quality of the scope that you bought. You shouldn’t buy a scope from a company that won’t stand by their work and provides service if it breaks.

Conclusion

An SKS rifle is one of the most common products in the world. Almost all the militaries have a stock of it.

Their simplicity and ease of use make them wonders to behold mechanically. There is no reason not to buy an optic just as durable, reliable, and simple as your rifle.

A good optic can work wonders on an SKS and turn it into a completely different shooting experience.

Plus, these guns remain affordable and easy to learn how to shoot. Ammunition is inexpensive too so there’s no better gun for practice and casual shooting.

If you are preparing to buy a scope for SKS, you should complete research on them first to ensure you are getting the best one for your needs.

Hopefully, by now you learned what to look for when you are out shopping for the best scope for SKS rifles, so you can be confident that you will be getting the best product for your money.
